Montana Trip

August 18th, 2005

Drove to Montana for Katie’s wedding. We took 80 to Salt Lake City, then took 89 North to 15 North to 90 East. On the way back we took the long route through Yellowstone. After leaving Billings, we went backpacking for two nights just west of Yellowstone. After camping we drove through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park before heading back to 86 West through Twin Falls, then to 93 South down to 80 back home.

Highlights:

  • western Utah salt flats
  • Camping with the goats in “grizzly use area”
  • Spending the first night on the camping trip thinking the wind blowing our tent was a bear attacking
  • Yellowstone and Grand Tetons
  • Southestearn Idaho
  • Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy on tape

Huntington Beach

July 4th, 2005

For the 4th of July Michael, Shannon, Sam and I took a road trip down to Kenall’s new condo in Huntington Beach. We drove down in Shannon’s brand new convertible. Sweet! We took the I-5 route on the way there, which was VERY hot. We decided to take 101 on the way home, which turned out not to take much longer than I-5, but it was much more pleasant.

It was a quick trip. We got there on Saturday afternoon and spent some time on the beach and having margaritas. The next day was craziness—remember never to go to sushi dinner when you’re already drunk and especially after you’ve been drinking non-stop all day! Yikes! I think we were all sick for the next 3 days. Ahh…nothing like a college-esque road trip.
